Love is a tricky thing. We don’t always think straight when we’re in the middle of that whirlwind of new love…we may lose perspective when we’ve been in a relationship for a long time…at all stages we tend to fall into patterns, some that serve us well, others not so well.
This is one (of many) areas that the Tarot can help. So many people come to me for readings on the subject of love in one of its many forms, and I always try to take an approach with the cards that will be empowering and helpful, rather than fatalistic or fortune teller-y. The cards are really good at turning things back to us, to our role in the situation, to what WE can do to bring happiness and growth into our lives rather than looking to others for gratification or blame. Usually, the cards can show us actions that we can take, inner work that we can do, to create a happier life for ourselves, and this is so much more powerful than using the cards to try to figure out what someone is is feeling or thinking or getting up to.
If you are currently in a relationship, and are looking for ways to help it deepen and grow, we might explore a Tarot spread like this one…
What’s Going on With Your Current Relationship? – A Tarot Love Spread
1. What is my current role in the relationship?
2. What is my partner’s role?
3. Where is it likely this relationship heading?
4. What unknown factors are influencing the relationship?
5. What is working well in this relationship?
6. What challenges may the relationship face?
7. What can I do to nurture and grow the relationship?
8. What can I do to nurture myself?
I think one of the most powerful positions in the spread is the 8th, final one. It’s a reminder…how important it is to take care of yourself, to appreciate yourself, to do things that you love and help you to grow as a person in your own right. This self-care and love will make you feel more joyful, and will bring joy and peace to your relationship as well.
Wishing you love and a beautiful Valentine’s Day!
