Ask your Tarot Cards to Send you a Dream

Many of us have unusual living situations right now.

You may be sharing a tight space with loved ones, grateful to have them near and also finding it hard to think or breathe.

You may be completely on your own, enjoying your own company but also getting used to more space and silence than usual.

You may be enjoying the simpler, practical pleasures of being around the house and blissfully avoiding the 24 hour news stream (is everyone baking banana bread right now, or is that just a Canadian thing?).

You may be caught up in financial worries, or caring for loved ones, just trying to keep your head above water.

For many reasons, this may be a time when you are having trouble hearing your inner voice or connecting with your intuition.

Stress can really put a damper on our intuition, often times when we need it most. When we can’t hear that inner voice, even small decisions can seem monumental, we become scattered or forgetful.

You may find it difficult to sit down and read the cards right now, even though they are your trusted friends and advisors.

If that’s the case, don’t let it phase you. Don’t beat yourself up or set an intensive Tarot schedule for yourself.

Relax, and try something a little different.

Have you ever asked your Tarot cards to send you a dream?

Dream Technique #1: Actively choose a card to dream a little dream with

Choose a card that you want to spend some time with in the dream world. This could be a card that you love, that you find comforting, one that always gives you good advice and inspiration. Or, this could be a card that keeps coming up in your readings, but you just don’t know what to make of it. Before you go to sleep, instead of looking at your phone, crawl into bed, pull up the covers, and gaze at your card. Let your eyes roam gently over it. Try to fix every detail in your mind’s eye (without stressing yourself out about that, too). Ask the figure on the card to meet you in the dream world, or to send you the dream you need to see. This could be the main figure, or an animal, a plant, a symbol, whatever resonates with you. When you’re ready to sleep, place the card under your pillow (safely, perhaps in a book so that it doesn’t get crushed), close your eyes, and set the intention that your Tarot card will feature in your dreams. And then, enjoy the adventure. When you wake up, jot down anything that you want to remember, and see what else comes to light throughout your day.

Dream Technique #2 – Dream Your Whole Tarot Spread

You can invite your entire Tarot spread to share a dream with you. Perhaps you did a Three Card spread for yourself, and you just aren’t connecting with it. Or, perhaps you used a more extensive spread, and you are having trouble seeing how the cards can weave into a cohesive story. Follow the same steps as in the previous technique, except that you would lay out your cards wherever you read for yourself, and before you go to bed, spend some meditative time just letting your eyes absorb the images, figures, landscapes, colours that appear in your spread. Invite those cards to appear in your dream however they wish, with the intention being you will see whatever you need to see to understand your reading more deeply.

Dream Technique #3 – Choose A Tarot Card Randomly/let the universe decide what you need to see

Again, follow the steps in #1 above, but in this case, shuffle the cards rather than choosing one actively. As you shuffle, ask the universe, or the Goddess, or your Higher Self, or your guides, whatever resonates with you, to show you what you need to see.

I love working with the cards in this way. It is a kind of meditation, prayer and a magical work all in one. You can bypass your stress, your anxious voice, any pressure that you may be putting on yourself, and connect with the cards and your intuition in a personal and meaningful way. You may also find that you sleep more deeply, something that is very welcome even in the best of times.

And I know it will work, you WILL dream. But just let things unfold, and know that even if you don’t understand the message right away, if you put your attention and intention on it, it will become clear.

Sweet dreams everyone.

This is such a fun idea, just what I was looking for. A neat way to use your cards a bit differently than the norm. 🙂
