We all have our own Tarot Year cards based on our date of birth and the current year. Our world has its own card, too. This Universal Year card provides insight into the atmosphere of the year ahead: challenges, opportunities, resources, and external forces that impact us collectively as a planet. The Universal Year card illustrates the energy we’re all swimming in, navigating, and making the most of. Knowing what you’re working with and how it might impact you personally, as well as the planetary community you’re a part of, is powerful.
The Universal Year card is always one of the 22 Major Arcana. The Major Arcana are the heart of the Tarot deck, cards that represent archetypes we recognize from the depths of our souls, even if it is your first time picking up a Tarot deck. The Majors are the life lessons we all go through, the milestones we celebrate, and the experiences that shape who we are as human beings.
2025 is a Hermit year, according to the Tarot.
2+0+2+5=9, and The Hermit card corresponds with the number 9.
Last year, 2024, was a Strength (8) year. Strength represents courage, compassion, and endurance. For many of us, this year tested our courage and faith. We were called to respond to world events with calm, measured actions rather than falling into aggression or despair. We found greater reserves of strength within ourselves than we could have imagined.
And now, we shift into a Hermit year. What might that look like?
The Hermit invites us to look within for the answers we need instead of listening to all the noise that surrounds us. The path of the Hermit is the search for wisdom and the positive change that comes from personal, inner work. I hope that wisdom will be a powerful force in the world, the light that guides us.
During a Hermit year, sensitive and empathic people may withdraw to reflect, recalibrate, and formulate action plans. Wise, reluctant leaders may be called to step forward, as well as spiritual guides and mentors.
2025 is the year of the introvert, of quiet power and thoughtful action.
Pause, breathe, think. Evaluate everything you see in the news and social media. Study and research. Get to know yourself well.
