Tarot and Manifestation: Keeping New Year’s Resolutions

I’m not a big fan of arbitrary New Year’s resolutions, but I find that it’s natural when we hit the end of any cycle and the beginning of a new one to think about where we are, where we want to be, and what changes we need to make to get there.

Rather than creating a list of resolutions at the beginning of the New Year, I think about what I want to manifest and invite into my life in the coming months.

For example, this year I am very focused on building my Tarot business, on building my reputation as a professional, capable and empowering Tarot reader, on being able to sustain myself financially and enjoy the benefits of my business.

With this in mind, I went through my Tarot deck, with the cards face up, and searched for a card that I felt embodied this goal.

The Nine of Pentacles called to me…

Nine of Pentacles
The card that really resonated with me is the lovely Nine of Pentacles. This card depicts an elegant and composed woman, standing in a fertile garden, surrounded by life, growth and glowing golden pentacles (coins). She is confident, secure, and seems to be enjoying the benefits of her hard work and talents. She is financially stable, and is taking the time to enjoy her life and the beauty around her. She is blooming, she is about to enjoy the harvest after her labour. She also has discipline and control over her thoughts and her own nature…I can’t imagine that any negative thoughts are allowed in that sanctuary!

Think about what you would like to manifest in 2017 and give this process a try…don’t over analyze it, just go with your gut and chose that card.

If you don’t have a Tarot deck, look through a magazine for images that resonate with you, or choose the word that most closely embodies what you want to manifest, and do an image search online for that word.

Empower yourself with that card or image…

Once you have your card or image, you can use it to empower you in many ways:

  • Carry the mental image of the card (or the actual card/photo) with you throughout the day. If you’re feeling discouraged, tempted or in need of a boost, pull up that image for inspiration and a reminder of what you’re working towards.
  • Meditate daily with the card, let the card whisper its insights to you. (Here’s a video to help with that.)
  • Create a mantra or affirmation for yourself based on the card. This can be used during meditation or anytime you need encouragement.
  • Draw/create/build/collage/papier-mâché your own version of the card – put a copy on the fridge, in your wallet, on the bathroom mirror, by your desk, by your bed…surround yourself with that positive and empowering image! Let it seep into you!

I find this to be a gentle, fun and yet powerful way to remind yourself what you plan to manifest in the coming year, rather than imposing an artificial and almost impossible resolution on yourself. Instead of setting yourself up to fail, allow some magic into your life and get excited about the possibilities!

I hope you’ll give this a try, and let me know how it works for you. What are you hoping to achieve in 2017? Which Tarot card or image encapsulates that dream?

Ready to hit the ground running in 2017? I’ve got a great reading to make that happen!
