Monday Motivation: Knight of Cups

Knight of Cups TarotHere we have the archetypal Knight-in-shining-armor, a romantic figure on his elegant steed. Pure romance.

It is mid-April, and we are in the midst of an ice storm. It is messy and very un-springlike out there. I woke up in a melancholy state, and then I pulled this card. This Knight was an unexpected and pretty sight. He elevated my morning, from slush and sleet to something refined and noble.

He invites me to wear my heart on my sleeve, to FEEL, to speak words of love, to get swept up in romance, to reach out to loved ones with an open and tender heart.

Take a look at this figure. Look at his beautiful posture, the tilt of his chin, the shine of his flawless armor. He is the bright dream of love. We are in the world of fairy tales, epic quests, Knights of the Round Table, the Holy Grail.

I welcome the appearance of this Knight, but the practical or perhaps wary side of myself is aware that he is in love with LOVE, he is sentimental and romantic, he is moody and changeable. When he offers you his heart, he really means it, but will he still feel that way tomorrow? He is a dreamer, and may enjoy getting lost in fantasy.

Here’s what I posted for my Today’s Tarot Message on Facebook:

The archetypal Knight in Shining Armour. This could be someone riding into your life, making an offer of romance. Or, if this is YOU, it is time to extend an offer of love or reconciliation to someone you care about. Be daring and bold, and act authentically from the heart. Be true, don’t swing towards sentimentality or fickleness. Wear your heart on your sleeve today.

Being the suit of Cups, we are in the world of the heart, love, emotion, intuition, relationships, healing and flow.

Being a Knight, we have high energy, action, the ability to focus on one thing and get it done, movement, immaturity, a desire to serve, idealism.

So what might the Knight of Cups represent in regards to a specific topic?

Knight of Cups in Love: Someone comes into your life with an offer of love, reconciliation or healing. A sensitive and sentimental person who may get lost in relationships, who wants to immerse themselves in that heady feeling of new romance. Genuine feelings of love, and yet this may be a person who is moody or changeable when it comes to relationships.

Knight of Cups in Career or Finances: There is an opportunity to be of value and service in your job/career, which would lead you towards advancement or promotion. Make sure that you are acting from the heart, that your motivations are genuine and your actions are aligned with who you really are, this is what will move you towards your goals.

Knight of Cups in Well-being and personal growth: Open yourself up to your emotions, express them to yourself and others. There is an opportunity for healing old wounds here, so that you will then be able to open yourself up to new or deeper love. Take a chance, wear your heart on your sleeve, you will receive what you desire.

[bctt tweet=”Knight of Cups: May you accept the gift that is being offered to you, and may you extend that precious gift to the object of your affection as well.” username=”InnerTarot”]

When the Knight of Cups appears, you are invited to fall in love, to rekindle love, to commune with your own heart. May you accept the gift that is being offered to you, and may you extend that precious gift to the object of your affection as well.
